Makenzie Hamilton
Legal Assistant
Biography
Makenzie is the firm’s legal assistant, which means she basically runs the firm. Makenzie is the master of the spreadsheet and keeps large amounts of data organized to the benefit of the firm’s clients. Makenzie is also the master of information: utilizing the latest technology, Makenzie identifies and synthesizes vast amounts of publicly available data that the firm’s lawyers use in their zealous representation of their clients.
On the firm’s fintech docket, Makenzie masterfully keeps track of over 100 disputes that are filed all over the country — in federal courts, state courts, and in at least three arbitration forums, all with different deadline and procedures. Makenzie utilizes her previous experience working at a credit union where she handled dispute charges for the credit union. She works closely with the firm’s fintech lawyers to investigate fraud allegations and get to the truth of the matter.
In the eminent domain practice area, Makenzie has led and organized various background investigations on impacted landowners and created easily digestible charts and graphs to communicate complex information to clients and right-of-way agents. Makenzie uses her Southern charm to communicate with Special Commissioners to confirm eligibility, secure signatures on various documents, and schedule hearings.
In the employment practice area, Makenzie assists the firm’s clients in their review process for job candidates in their hiring process.
Makenzie is a former teacher and soccer coach, so herding lawyers, multiple clients, and well over 100 dispute matters at any given time is second nature to her. During her free time, Makenzie loves to be outdoors, read, and plan family game night. She is also a self-proclaimed hobby hoarder, and you can usually find her diving into one of her ever-increasing interests.
